- Add a template for exporting a single piece of content from the browser (document action?) - Ensure that unicode data roundtrips correctly. See SF#1105363 - Import/export of boolean fields. (currently False fields exports as False which imports as True). - Export of empty fields (e.g. unset dates) currently exported as None. - Allow import and export of primary fields. - Add an encoding attribute to the tag to allow for base64 encoding binary fields such as images. - Should eventually have a Plone UI (in Plone Setup, now Site Setup) to configure the Marshall tool - Currently the tool functioning is based on 'rules' which control what marshaller gets used an when. - I would like to see the Marshall tool be an action provider and have dynamic 'document_actions' being generated that would map to calling the marshalling layer with special params to use a specific export So it would work more or less like: - Having a 'ical export' 'document_action' (icons next to 'send to a friend' and 'external edit') - The link for this action would pass an argument in a request variable to the Marshall tool - The Marshall tool (and the ControlledMarshaller) would then look at this variable and select the 'ical' marshaller. - This is a very high-level description, I will write more on it later and help implementing it if needed. - Move code for importing/exporting ical from Calendaring to Marshall as a marshaller - See about the xbel (bookmarks) product out there and if it's already a marshaller just test it, otherwise also move it to Marshall - There's a CSV (comma separated values) product somewhere in the Collective too. Should see about moving parts of it's code to a marshaller. - Marshall currently has a hard dependency on libxml2. Needs to be made so it doesn't fail to import if libxml2 is not installed - Kapil has a branch with improvements to the xml marshaller. I think Cignex agreed to give him time to merge the branch, but this is unrelated to these guys work. - Nate Aune has lots of cool ideas of how this should work and areas where improvement is needed. He should be replying to this email with some plan. - We should probably write PLIPs for all of this so more people can contribute. - All checkins should come with tests. There are some good example tests in Marshall itself. Please read them and use them as a start for your tests. - Batch import/export ideas: - Having Marshall work with Folders. Basically mix PUT and manage_FTPget from BaseContent. - Having a 'search and export'. Do a search in Plone and have a 'export results as:' with a checkbox and multiple formats. - Here's a message from Nate Aune that triggered most of this TODO: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.web.zope.plone.user/31065
