| Prior to joining the Faculty of Education at Anglia Ruskin University in Jan 2007 I was part of the team at Ultralab. I worked there for 7 years
After graduating from Art school in Bournemouth I worked for several years in London in the photographic and film industry. I returned to Scotland and taught Photography and New Media (as it was then) in Further Education. During this period of time I practised as an artist photographer and
exhibited my work mainly in Scotland. As a teacher, I was concerned about what was then, in my opinion, a rather traditional curriculum and I was eager to research and develop strategies to encourage learning using new technologies and emerging digital tools. Following 10 years in teaching I applied and was selected for secondment to the TescoSchoolNet 2000 project This love of technology and desire to explore new tools for learning is my passion. As a consequence, I have remained with Ultralab in association with Anglia Ruskin University and engaged in a variety of exciting and innovative projects.

| My interests and research foci still remain firmly embedded in how the tools and technology allow and facilitate eager and creative minds to become engaged in pathways of learning through personal study. Technology has opened up the doors and broken down the barriers of once mighty pedagogical obstacles and it is that new 'seduction of learning' and its attraction to personal knowledge through individuals becoming 'creatives' thatls that drives me forward. Ultralab's vision and it's continual and tenacious approach to explore new ways to engage learners of all ages allowed me to explore my own creativity and research drive. Projects such as :
...to name but a few....it gave me great pride to lead, assist and collaborate in such creative and innovative learning, technology and research work. Armed with the new technology at our fingertips, and Anglia Ruskin University now forging ahead with e-learning programmes, I was delighted and excited to have been involved with 3 cohorts on the Ultraversity project. The first fully online work based research degree for undergraduates, has grown from an original idea by the lab to a now very successful degree programme, which allows students from all 4 corners of the globe to engage in a facilitated VLE, where the workplace is the foci of the study. The international application and of this project and how it can impact a wider audience is now of particular interest to me. I think this is just the start of some great things about to happen in the way we approach learning from now on. My interests now are in developing multimedia tools and digital portfolios for use within all areas of learning - in particular, the web delivery of video is a growing passion and I enjoy the problem solving and investigation with researchers, looking at ways of adding a more dynamic content to their e-portfolio work along with keeping developing technologies within their reach and development.
