James Kadirire read Computer Science at the
University
of Cambridge,
Fitzwilliam College
in 1992. He then got a PhD in Computer Science from
University
College London in 1996, on Dynamic Multicast Routing in the Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) Environment. James then
worked in the commercial world doing mainly
software design and development, including 2 years from 1999 to 2001, at
BT
Adastral Park, where he was doing research in distributed systems. He then
joined
Anglia Ruskin Univeristy ,
Ultralab
in May 2002 on a Senior Lecturer scale. James has worked
on the
m-Learning pan European research project aimed at trying to improve the
numeracy and literacy skills of disaffected youths in the age range of 16-24year olds, by encouraging them to access
learning material using mobile devices. He has also worked on a
Ultralab SMS Service
research project which investigated how the sms service can be used in
schools or conferences. He has done some work with Oracle on their
Oracle Collaboration Suite. James is also working with the Faculty of
Science, Computing Department, to produce a blended learning Health
Informatics Foundation degree (November 2005 – August 2006). This
semester (2006), he is also
teaching two modules in the Ashcroft International Business School,
Anglia Ruskin University.
- BPM1013 - Corporate Communications, a post graduate course on
communications and information technologies within a rapidly changing
business environment. It reinforces theoretical concepts supported by
practical assignments, exercises and case studies. The module
encourages students to have an appreciation of the value of corporate
data and information, database technologies, statistical analysis and
the transformation of data to information and knowledge
- BUD2D01 - Management Information Systems, an undergraduate course
which looks at the role of information systems within the global
organization, with particular emphasis on how they relate to the IS as
well as the corporate strategy. Different approaches to systems
development and management are explored; It covers data normalization
in database design and the students get to develop and present a
prototype database system.
James is also supervising one PhD student in online transactions security.
