Leonie Ramondt's Profile
Leonie Ramondt's Profile DescriptionBefore coming to ULTRALAB in July 1997, I was a multi-media software designer, videographer and lecturer in Multimedia Design at Edith Cowan University in Perth. I wrote my M Ed thesis on Learning by Designing and the process of engagement (Flow theory), based on working with media arts students who collaboratively designed an interactive CD Rom. Inspired by Stephen Heppell's vision for delightful learning, I joined the team as a research fellow in mid 1997, to research and develop online learning communities. My first research project was the Online Learning Network, an online learning community for educationalists funded by IPPR, in advance of the University for Industry. My second project was a European funded online learning community for engineers in the aerospace and automotive industries called SMILE (SME Internet Learning Experience). Starting in November 1999, I led our team of 13 remote working online learning facilitators to research and develop Talking Heads, an online community for English head teachers in advance of the National College of School Leadership (NCSL). This work prepared the ground for Virtual Heads, the online community for the now mandatory National Qualifications for Professional Headship (NPQH), led by Carole Chapman. The success of this work meant that Carole and I were asked to recruit a team totalling 26, and we co-led the national rollout of online learning communities integrated into all NCSL’s programmes for English school leaders. These communities now have 70,000 registered members. This work was successfully handed over to the NCSL in December 2003. Since completing this work I have been involved in a number of projects including; co-researching a consultation document for the future of Public service broadcasting for the BBC: working on the Design my school project with the Design Council, and running an e-democracy project funded by Microsoft. I am currently involved in writing bids, including a Technology and Social Action bids, and contributing research to the Mobile Games Based Learning project, which is an EU funded project, headed by Evolaris in Austria. I am also co-ordinating the e-learning design for the faculty of education post compulsory PGCE, and am writing a think piece on e-maturity for BECTA. My research interests include examining how the creative use of ICT and mobile peer-to-peer technologies can be appropriated by groups and communities to generate performance indicators as formative feedback for effective action. http://myprofile.cos.com/ramondt Leonie's CV |
