ULTRALAB OPEN DAY
Invitation to the Ultralab Open Day 2005 : November 15 (13:00 - 16:00)
Europe's leading Learning, Technology and Research centre, based at
Anglia Ruskin University, will be opening its doors to anyone who is
interested in learning more about cutting edge ICT and innovation
projects pushing the boundaries of new and emerging technologies within
teaching and learning. Ultralab's team of researchers will be on hand
throughout the day, a rare and delightful opportunity for our very busy
team.
The first afternoon session will demonstrate some of our key findings
from Ultralab's international collaboration projects exploring Digital Creativity. We'll also be sharing some of the teams
experience as world leaders in online learning communities, in particular our Ultraversity
project, which is a 100% online degree course for people fully occupied
in full time employment. Ultraversity has succeeded in graduating more
online learners than the Government's own now defunct e-universities
project, a remarkable achievement.
You will also have a chance during the second half to discuss various
projects of your choice in an interactive environment:
Design
My School - our project with the Design Council to explore
how a school could be utilised in actual learning space design
GearBox
- we develop our own software, and GearBox builds on many of Ultralab's
experiences in application development
Blogs - The use of blogs for learning and fun
Learning through play - From story telling to virtual worlds: how are
new technologies revitalising learning? Come and brainstorm possible
future projects
mGBL - A new EC-funded project for the creation of m-learning games
(learning
facilitated by mobile technologies) to support development of
decision-making skills in a crisis
New learning environments - we've help set up a new school, for
children with Hemiplegia, continuing our expertise in design and the
health related field
Transmissions - A project developing an online self-assessment tool for
use with primary schools in the Basildon area
