Developing from the concept of offering one email per child outlined in
the Stevenson Report, Ultralab began work with Oracle to use their
database engine to build a set of learning community tools, including
identity, for all children, worldwide.
The pilot had no name and was based on a newspaper metaphor and so became known by the team as 'codename Scoop'.
Three organisations were used to test the software design: Walthamstow School in Waltham Forest; Whithill School in Glasgow and a computer club on the Isle of Man.
The set of tools later became Think.com.
