NPQH Project Description
Working with DfEE (and subsequently with NCSL Online) and the NPQH writing team, ULTRALAB has been instrumental in moving this assessed course from a paper based, face to face qualification to a largely online course.
From 2001 ULTRALAB worked to develop a supporting materials website, moving the learning modules from paper format to an online, easily updatable and editable database website.
To allow NPQH candidates to question experts, reflect on their own learning and share good practice, an NPQH community structure was developed by ULTRALAB (using think.com). The online community was named Virtual Heads. The first cohort in March 2002 comprised 1,250 aspiring headteachers. The programme was so successful it was made mandatory in April 2004.
