Ultralab has a vision to enhance participation and delight in learning with technology, guided by a shared set of learning concepts and values. We have a proven track record inventing small and large-scale projects to explore our ideas. We have been growing since 1988 and are based in Chelmsford and all over the UK, with strong international links, especially in New Zealand.

This innovative undergraduate degree allows you to work full time and take action to improve your work context. It has been developed as part of the Ultraversity project an innovation by Ultralab, the learning technology research centre at Anglia Ruskin University.

120 of the 140 graduates from the BA (Hons) Learning Technology Research met for the first time in Chelmsford to collect their certificates in the Cathedral at Anglia Ruskin University's awards ceremony.

From as far as Northern Ireland 120 graduates of this innovative online and work-based degree travelled to meet each other and their tutors for the very first time. There were hugs, tears and smiles as the graduates recognised people with whom they had formed "very deep bonds" over three years of studying together in an online community. In the same ceremony, The Right Reverend Bishop Simon Barrington-Ward was awarded an honorary doctorate of the university and went on to speak about the openness of opportunities offered at Anglia Ruskin University. The stories he told and the values he proposed were instantly recognisable by the graduates - an unintended connection which was all the more valuable for that. The ceremony marked a critical moment in the development of Ultralab's Ultraversity project too - congratulations to all the team who made it possible.

BA Honours Graduate Jane Day is interviewed by BBC Look East reporter John Halford and describes her work on the Ultraversity degree, anticipating a first face-to-face experience at the graduation ceremony in November 2006. Also interviewed is Dr Paul Clark, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) of the Open University. When asked "Is the Open University concerned about a possible rival?", Paul commented: "No, I don't think we're worried. We may learn something from Anglia Ruskin, but I don't think that we feel threatened by them, we're pleased with what they've done."
