Report OL144 Learning Resource Centre Business Plans
David Blunt of Digby Associates was commissined by Tyneside TEC, through the National Development Prospectus, to undertake a professional audit of the facilities offered by their Learning Resources Centre (LRC), and to identify a business plan that would assist the TEC to make full commercial use of its facilities.
The aims of the project were: to demonstrate that flexible learning solutions can provide a cost-effective service which is complementary to the Tyneside TEC Learning Resource Centre; and to establish the revenue generation potential of the Tyneside TEC Learning Resource Centre.
The objectives included: (1) to identify and list the revenue generation opportunities for the LRC (not contained in this report); (2) to identify the market niche (s) in which the LRC could expect to opperate successfully (that is profitably); (3) to identify and recommend the Open and Flexible Learning (OFL) packages to be offered and supported commercially; (4) to review the position of the LRC in relation to copyright and recommend LRC policy; (5) to review and recommend staff development programmes; and (6) to develop planning guidelines for dissemination to all UK TEC Learning Resource Centres.
