Report OL158 Establishing an Open Learning Centre
This spiral-bound report is about a project which looked at the Open Learning Demonstration Centre which had been operated by the Training Agency in London, and examines ways in which it could be re-launched as an activity of the Central London Training Enterprise Council (CENTEC). The Training Agency commissioned THK Training to carry out the project in December 1990 for completion in March 1991. Assistance was provided by past and current members of staff in the Inner London (North) Area Office, by many past clients of the Centre and by many other employers.
The aim of the project was to develop the Open Learning Demonstration Centre into a centre of excellence in order to:
(i) encourage the use of Open Learning (OL) by informing local employers about what is available, enabling them to try out OL materials and assisting them in the implementation of OL activities; and
(ii) to inform interested parties about similar developments by TEED related organisations, including TECs in other parts of the country. The intended outcomes were: a detailed plan for the re-launch and subsequent promotion and operation of the Open Learning Centre, and a report outlining the process leading to the production of the plan, as a basis for dissemination.
