Report OL170 TEC Open Learning projects 1990/91

The need to upgrade and continue to develop the skills of the workforce is now widely accepted in the United Kingdom. A key part of achieving this will be to ensure that training provision is sufficiently flexible to meet the different needs and circumstances of individuals.

Open Learning can offer great flexibility and can also often be the most cost-effective means of training. It is a learning method which does not involve fixed date starts, or need groupings of trainees to be viable. For individuals Open Learning allows more choice and personal responsibility, by enabling them to undertake training at a time, place and pace which suits them.

This brochure gives information on 17 Open Learning development projects, carried out under the management of TECs in 1990 and 1991. For each project there is a summary of the main findings, and for readers who would like more detail, an address to contact for the full report. The brochure is being sent to all TECs and LECS, to members of the British Association for Open Learning, and to other interested parties.
