Report OL216 CD-ROM in the classroom
"CD-ROM in the classroom" is a guide to CD-ROM with examples of how it can be used in the classroom. The report is based on a project by Calder High School, an Oxfordshire Local Education Authority Consortium of Schools, and South Manchester College. Hilary Stott was the project manager at the Employment Department.
Practical issues addressed by the report include: What is a CD-ROM?, Why bother to have it?, What hardware is required?, Networking, How much does it cost? Software, Advantages & Disadvantages, How much support is required?, How is it to be managed? The student learning process, Physical management of CD-ROM facilities, Where can it be located for easy access?, Which CDs are most useful?, Who can provide independent impartial expert advice?, What sort of storage and security facilities are required?
