Report OL220 Getting the best from Open Learning
The aim of this guide is to help the reader get the best out of Open Learning (OL) and to enable the reader to assess the quality of the Open and Flexible Learning (OFL) products and services the reader may use or be offered.
When the guide has been read, the reader should:
(1) know what he or she wants to learn and why
(2) understand what Open and Flexible Learning is and what it requires of the learner
(3) be able to list your own needs and preferences in any learning programme taken up
(4) be able to assess learning materials against these needs and preferences
(5) be able to judge how the services offered by Open Learning providers compare with these needs and preferences
In this guide, certain assumptions have been made about the reader. If these are not completely accurate, the reader is advised to allow for the differences as the guide is used. These assumptions are that the reader is not in full-time education, the reader is interested in using Open Learning to take up further study now or at some point in the future, and that the reader has little or no previous experience of using Open Learning.
